Overview

First-hand experience and independence have been the driving forces for Tolly since our inception in 1989. Each of the guides published are based on our first hand experience in the lab conducting IT evaluations. We are an independent organization that is privately held and we do not endorse or resell any IT products. The Common Test Plan guides are informational tools that allow a technical audience to become instant experts on topics and industry proven and recognized test methodologies.

Common Test Plan Development Process

Each guide draws upon expertise and first-hand knowledge from both The Tolly Group, which is the global leader in hands-on IT research, as well as invited input from leading technology vendors. Long recognized as industry's leading independent testing lab, we have worked with virtually every major vendor and evaluated the most important products and technologies to appear over the last two decades. This unparalleled insight into vendor products and testing methodologies enables us to leverage our experience into the guides. With that experience and relationship with vendors, we actively seek their review and comments on the guides. Any vendor input is evaluated by Tolly engineers and analysts and included as deemed appropriate by the Tolly team. Vendors do not pay to provide that input and vendors do not sponsor the document.

Independence & Objectivity

Vendor and end users rely on Tolly and their reports for independent third-party data. At Tolly, we hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards. We do not sell hardware or have a vested interest in whether a particular technology or business practice succeeds or fails. While technology vendors provide insight into the guide and may license a guide, we are unbiased and any commentary provided by vendors is screened for validity by our engineers and analysts.
